Scribbled text on a paper

It’s a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack

- Germany Kent

2022 has taught me many things that I might have known but have never made sense of. It has a been a year of learning, pushing boundaries, challenging myself and above all, being intentional about creating and maintaining relationships. It has taught me to take time to reflect on where I have come from and focus on where I am going.  As it is human nature, we are biased and at times we focus too much on what went wrong. Nonetheless, one thing I have learnt is that being positive creates the why to live and brings the right people to you.

All of us we have experienced difficult times, and when going through the storm it is hard for us to stop and look for what we are thankful for. I have learnt to be patient with myself, to never rush the process but at the same time to never miss the learning amidst the storm. As Robert Brault said, “Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.’’

In order to help look at the things to be grateful for one might need:

 i.         A set of key objectives that you intend to achieve: Breaking down our big dreams into small goals gives us the ability to have small wins along the way. This helps us enjoy the process and create clear points to step back and take stock. In creating this as we achieve, we are happy and thankful.

ii.         A support system: Having people who encourage and challenge you genuinely is of key importance. Many times, you could be building each other but at times they could just be out to work and help you. These people help point out your achievements that if you look at, may seem ordinary.

iii.         Provide support for others: looking out for people who you can be of help to is important. As you give to and strengthen others you too become strong as you learn in the process.

iv.         Know your limits: Many times, we reach out too far and if we do not achieve what we set out to achieve, we get discouraged. It is good to push ourselves but never to a breaking point.

As we get a chance into the new year let us look out for the opportunities to celebrate, learn and challenge us. We limit ourselves by our own believes and as we do so let’s remember what John F. Kennedy said, “We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.”  For me and my Team at Liz consulting we are happy you are part of our community and in 2022 we hope to be part of your journey as you grow your wealth.
