When I saw the Ted talk Titled professional trouble maker, I was torn between listening to it or just looking for another Ted talk and given that it was early in the morning and needed some encouragement talk to get me by the gym session I was tempted to listen. The Talk is enlightening and for sure shall by the book.
The key Message is around “Disrupting the status quo can be scary, but sometimes it's necessary to make the world a fairer place”. We all a have duty to improve the world and we owe it to ourselves and others. For most of us we choose to flow with the crowd even when things do not make sense to us. To check if the things that type are thinking make sense, Luvvie Ajayi Jones suggest we ask ourselves these three questions:
Do I Mean it?
Can I defend it ?
Can I say it thoughtfully?
It is always better to see more information and do not fear to contribute even if you have a contrary opinion because you can give a perspective that was not considered but also be ready to accept a change of perspectives if there is no new fact. Remember learning is a two way traffic.
