Three Key Goal Evaluation Mistakes
“It’s one thing to set a goal. It’s another, however, when you get so caught up in the details that you neglect to review your progress. Reevaluation enables you to improve your aim to ensure you hit your target.” ― Susan C. Young
Being the last month of the first half of the year, it is time to sit and retrospect. We had our
annual goals which we had divided into small and achievable milestones. Now a review of how
well we are doing is of utmost importance so that we see if we need to review the goals or
change the action plans towards the achievement of the same.
Below are three. Key mistakes while reviewing your goals
1. Not doing the actual evaluation- like starting unless we agree to start and do the work
we shall never move. We need to agree to do the work and get all the help we need
while doing it
2. Coming up with excuses: While we might not have achieved that which we set to do
we should look at the ways and means in which we could have achieved accept what
went wrong and correct without creating excuses.
3. Not seeking help: Many at times we give up on our goals instead of accepting and
looking for the help we need to propel us. Vulnerability is a sign of strength and only
the self- aware can accept to show their weaknesses.
Let’s challenge ourselves and go back to our goals as set out at the beginning of the year
Evaluate and review them. We can still achieve what we had set out to do in this first half and if
not let’s change the course of action without creating excuses for ourselves.
